J'ai eu beaucoup de mal a rentrer dans l'histoire, il m'a fallu du temps pour m'attacher aux personnages. Le roman est en effet construit avec une double temporalité : Jess dans le présent, hérite d'une petite maison en Sicile de la part d'une grand-mère qu'elle n'a jamais connu. J'ai trouvé sa partie extrêmement cliché, l'anglaise qui tombe sous le charme de l'Italie et d'un bel italien.... 

Et puis en paralele, on suit l'histoire de Lucia, sa grand-mere pendant la seconde guerre mondiale. J'ai mieux aimé cette partie meme si les descriptions des differents clans / mafias peuvent semblaient un peu longue. En tout cas, on sent que l'auteure a fait un veritable travail de recherche. 

Je n'avais jamais lu de romans de l'auteure et j'ai aimé le style et surtout le dépaysement et le voyage en Sicile qu'offre les pages de ce roman.
